I’ve always rather enjoyed the paradox and mystery of attitudes surrounding meditation. On one hand when we do it, we fill ourselves with love, feel better all around, and our day seems glorious. Yet when we think about actually doing it, it is more like eating brussels sprouts – we know they are probably good for us, but we can eat them tomorrow or next week. The truth is, if we look at our morning meditation in perspective, it’s more like starting the day with dessert – and I mean the really good dessert like the chocolate truffles that you get across the street from the Louvre in Paris.
Hey, I do it too. I’m better at it now, but it took decades of whining about it.
I think part of our resistance is that we get frustrated because we think we are not doing it right. Let’s lay that one to rest right now. There is only one way to do it right, your way. That’s right, everyone’s experience of meditation is totally different. It is tempting to look at someone else’s description of their experience and think you are not doing it right because you can’t do what you think they can do.
A spiritual group that I have participated in places importance on contemplation, a focused form of meditation. When these people gather they may talk about their experiences. In my mind, I group these experiences by types.
- People who see light.
- People who hear sounds.
- People who leave their bodies.
- People who travel to other worlds.
- People who study at temples of wisdom.
- People who immerse themselves in love (of God)
- People who just know things – direct perception.
Someone tends to be good at one, maybe two of the above. The thing is, they might listen to what the others can do and discount their own experiences.
I’m in the last group. I know stuff. That means whenever I want to know the answer to anything about life, the universe, and everything, it just kinda pops into my head. Pretty wonderful. The thing is, it is very unglamourous. I don’t get the cool lights or travel to exotic places. I must be doing it wrong.
I know now that if I were to put my attention on any of those experiences, the Law of Attraction would bring them to me. But they don’t seem as important now.
Here’s the deal. You really can’t get it wrong. As along as it feels good to you, you are doing it right.
Here are some tapping exercises to get you started. No set-up phrases are needed.
- I give myself permission to make meditation easy.
- I give myself permission to enjoy meditation.
- I give myself permission to make meditation fun.
- I give myself permission to make meditation a priority.
- I give myself permission to allow my experience to be perfect for me.
- I give myself permission to love myself as the being of light and love I am.
- I give myself permission to make meditation part of my daily routine.
Next: Why is meditation important in the LOA process?
Sneak preview:
I am in the process of setting up a virtual reality Law of Attraction Meditation Center in the Second Life sim. Current plans are to hold a daily 20-30 minute meditation session followed by a discussion of the Law of Attraction. In other words, we will work as a group to shrink the gap between what you are wanting and what you are getting.
Second Life gives us the opportunity to interact more or less as if we are together in person. We can talk, break off into small groups, ask questions, etc. Plus we can look really, really good. LOL
It will be funded by donations. Second Life is free to participate in.
I cannot think of a better way to make use of virtual reality. Can you?
Contact me for more information, or if you would like to get involved.

Use the free session to chat, ask a question, or just get to know me. |
All the content here is given freely; however I appreciate your contribution to continue this work
to the extent that you derive more value from the experience. |
I love your style of writing. Makes me wish I could do it like you, oh wait that would be the “I am not doing it right mindset” giggle.
I agree meditation is one of the key’s to success (in any area of your life) that most folks put off until another day.
Or as a friend of mine would say “Their stinking thinking got in the way”.
While I have left my body and even been to new worlds it only happened a few times vs just plain ole knowingness.
Thank you for sharing from your heart-it’s really nice. Shazam
Michele,
My style of writing is just me being authentic. I just kinda turn it on and let it go. You are already authentic so are already there.
Wow, Chip–this post was “right on” with me! ! I used to go to a spiritual writer’s group (that I loved, by the way), but the part that I just couldn’t connect with was the initial “meditation time” done at the beginning. I just wasn’t feeling it at all. In fact, I found I just couldn’t relate to that “deep state” that everyone else said they were feeling and I thought it was just me at the time: I must be doing it wrong, kind of thing. Over time, I realized that this notion was silly and fast forward a few years and I realize now that everyone has their own way. And what I do feels good, so I must be doing it right. Besides, I just know stuff, too.
Barbara,
There is a lot of power and freedom in being okay with how you do it and what you get from it.
