Telling the story below of how I discovered my new, more efficient system of meridian tapping (see previous posts) has been very healing. In doing so, I have had to let all my woo-woo hang out. I am surrendering the last of my self-consciousness about being labeled as “out there.” I have to face it. I am out there.
Ever since I “discovered” the technique, it was evident that it needed a name. This need reached a peak a couple weeks ago when Paul Zelizer and I were working on the tele-workshop series, “Spiritual Tools that Work.” I was to be one of the featured speakers and needed with a title. No matter how I sliced it, “This New Tapping Thing I Do” was not going to cut it. Besides, my friends Michelle Casto (pictured above right), Wendy G. Young (pictured left) and others were encouraging me to name the process so that it could become a brand for me. But the best I was coming up with was something like, “Meridian Tapping to Remove Energetic Eddies from Your Vibrational Field” — which is about as easy to catch as a potato chip dropped from a three-story building on a windy day. In desperation, the name Light Tappingsm and Tapping into the Light sm popped into my mind.

Thanks
Since the Spiritual Tools series forced the naming of my technique, it is only appropriate that I express my thanks to all who were involved as listener, asked questions, volunteered, or spoke on the live calls. Every time I do a joint venture with my co-producer Paul Zelizer (pictured right), it gets better and more fun. I got a chance to reconnect with Jen Blackert, who every time we talk moves quickly into a Source Energy connection. I met and connected with Gurutej(pictured below left) , who was introduced to me by Mary Adams (pictured below right), who runs the coolest Internet radio station, Co-Creator Network. I became fast friends with Jeannette Maw (pictured next section left), the Good Vibe Coach, whom I spent an hour giggling with in our pre-interview-get-to-know-each-other call.
If you missed it, you can still listen to the recordings by going through the same registration process as if you were listening to the live call. The events became recordings minutes after the calls ended. As a reminder, the titles were:

- Chip Engelmann on “Tapping into the Light”
- Jen Blackert on “Eliminating Fear”
- Gurutej on “More Energy: What Women Truly Need”
- Jeanette Maw on “The Art of Vibration Management”
So onto how I learned Light Tappingsm.
I learned early on that it is very difficult to work on yourself. Think about it. If you are hiding something from yourself, how would you know? I started by trading sessions. One such trade has been ongoing weekly for three years now. But as I met more people who became friends and colleagues, quite commonly when we were chatting and one of our “issues” came up, the other person would say, “Let’s take care of it right now.”
All of the events leading up to the creation of the Light Tappingsm technique happened in this spirit of giving freely.
I have also been aware for some time that I do my best work when I go into a state of seeing both myself and my client as Source Energy. This is what it is about for me. I enjoy this state so much that if I have an afternoon free, I will go onto Twitter and offer a free session just to keep up the vibes.
Tapping into my Spirit Guides
So when my sister-in-law Minda Bernstein (pictured right), a certified life coach, revealed to me that she has been a channel for years but has neglected to tell anyone, the first thing that popped into my mind was, “I wonder what meridian tapping looks like to non-physical beings?” Now Minda does not channel a named set of beings like Esther Hicks channels Abraham or Frank Butterfield channels Paul. Rather Minda contacts her spirit guides and tells them your question. Her spiritual guides contact your spiritual guides (it’s a little like a party, as they say) and the question is asked. Your spiritual guides’ answers are then relayed to you.
My spirit guides replied, and I am paraphrasing: When a person engages in tapping they create an intention that allows the person’s guides to “rewire the brain” to align with that intention and help the person make a life change. The practitioner can help by consciously inviting the guides to help – and even more, by having the client invite her guides as well.
Instantly, I became aware that a tapping session was a co-creation process that was a tad larger in scope than I had imagined.
A lesson from Paul
A short time later, Jen Blackert (pictured left) demonstrated a technique where I placed a “block” in my hand and moved it behind my vision. She asked me to tell her what my life would look like without that block. Although I have experienced many visualizations before, this time I was acutely aware that energy was being manipulated.
A couple days later, I was able to use the technique with Frank Butterfield(pictured right). When I did, I was drawn to an old EFT technique of using symbols to focus the tapping. At the end of that session, I became inexplicably emotional–something had been triggered. I asked Frank if I could schedule some time with Paul, and Frank said, “they are ready to speak with you now.”
Paul used the very same technique on me that I had just used on Frank, only Paul had me tune into the problem’s energy or vibration rather than the emotion. This seemingly simple shift was very powerful and I was able to watch as the energy of my problem dissolved.
The shift toward focusing on energy rather than emotion has had the profound effect that I can now do in one session what used to take many. Because the energy of an issue precedes the core issue or core event, tapping directly on the energy eliminates the need to isolate the core event, saving lots of time in detective work. It also reduces the pain that the client experiences in the course of the investigation.
So that is how Light Tappingsm was born. The discovery of the sentinel and the symbolic systems occurred after I deconstructed what I had learned from Paul and practiced the technique fruitfully with many clients.
In looking back over this post and seeing all the pictures, I realize I have been name-dropping a who’s who of beings of light and love. Once more, I send my appreciation to each of them for their role in this manifestation process.

Use the free session to chat, ask a question, or just get to know me. |
All the content here is given freely; however I appreciate your contribution to continue this work
to the extent that you derive more value from the experience. |
I kinda like “Remove Energetic Eddies from Your Vibrational Field”. Though it is a bit wordy. :~)
Thanks for sharing this powerful healing tool with the world Chip. I got emails for days after your call from listeners who told of feeling big shifts – even though they weren’t the volunteer you worked with. I look forward to learning more.
With love, Paul
I like it–short and simple—and how bout those Texans holding the light. T
hat means ya’ll will have to come down here very soon.
And I can testify to the power of Light Tapping, as it helped me release two major emotional blocks, freeing me -now I can move forward at light speed and shine like I am (and you are) meant to.
Namaste & Thanks to all the people of the light,
Bright Michelle
I didn’t know your sister in law was a life coach, Chip!
What a fun post to read … it’s very clear you travel in a high-vibing circle, my friend!
PS – it’s lovely how well you’re promoting the material of Paul, too!
Sometimes the sessions with Paul (the plural Paul, not the amazing and singular Paul Z) don’t seem to me to be any more interesting than reading a grocery list (to paraphrase Esther Hicks). And the one you refer to above seemed that way to me until it was over and you told me what they had said. And then… I got to experience your facilitation of Light Tapping myself. Wow!!
Plus, it’s so cool to get the full back story on how LT emerged. I’ve lost count on the number of times you’ve used it in our sessions, but it always amazes me!! So profound yet almost effortlessly simple…
I’m also ecstatic to be mentioned in the same article with all these other amazing folks! Woo Hoo!!
@Michelle — Totally agree — It’s time for a Texas round-up!! Austin being the center of the state, I nominate my fair city for that honor… Yee Haw!
Much love,
Frank
PS — LT is probably a better acronym than REEFYVF….
What an amazing group of individuals you have brought together here, and How exciting to share with the brilliance of this group. My session with Chip and my first experience with “Light Tapping” was transformational. I had been experiencing a lifetime sensation in my stomach, with little change even with my numerous attempts to clear it with a variety of other tools, manifestations and clearings. In my session I chose to experience this cleansing while sitting on The Blanco River – which provided me with the opportunity to tune in to nature and ground my energy during this release. Within 1 hour the change was so amazing that I felt renewed and healed and for the first time in my life was freed from what I thought was such a big part of me. I have spent the last 2 weeks refilling that space with love and joy! Thank you Chip for sharing your amazing healing with me- Namaste’
Wow! what a great bunch of comments.
Michelle,
5 of the 9 people here are from Texas. That’s almost half. Moving to Texas huh? Well, my wife has always been partial to Austin where she went to high school. I rather like that area too. Maybe…
Paul,
I can’t wait to get started on our next project. “Spiritual Tools II” anyone?
Jeanette,
When I look around at the people who are coming into my life all I can think is, “Wow, this stuff is really happening.”
Frank,
I can’t say enough about the support you and the multi-Paul have given me. Think I’ll go schedule another session now. hehe And there is absolutely no doubt you belong on this list.
Mary,
You are doing such cool work–in so many areas. You are an inspiration to behold. Keep it up and I look forward to participating when and where things fall into place. You more than anyone are responsible for bringing together people who vibrate at a certain level.
Frank,
When I read your post, I got the image of you sitting in front of a dryer with a glass door, watching the clothes go round and round. Let me assure you that the experience on the other side of the door is quite different.
Yay for the woowoo, Chip!
Watching you make these discoveries, jump into the flow, tap into the light (yes, it’s a great pun – it’s you!), create things, help me and others with your own brand of Chip-joy is a treat I’ve hugely enjoyed these past years!
Light Tapping is one more gift you bring to the table. Wow.
What an honor to be a part of it all and at the same time to connect to so many others who link arms and share similar visions.
Yep, life is a lot like a laundromat!
