For artists who love to explore Spirit, and spiritual people who love to explore art
Note: If you can't read this page properly, click here. Dear %$firstname$%,
Do you ever get feedback from someone about your creative work and they say something like, "This, this and this are wrong - it needs a major overhaul."
Don't quite believe them! Keep clear and centered like a sunflower. (I took this picture this morning in our garden and really wanted to use it!) Look behind their words. Okay, so something in the artwork isn't coming across to them. Shift to see what exactly is the disconnect that they are cluing you in about. Then you can often solve it with a relatively minor adjustment. And now they love the piece! In other words, I believe that people have useful things to say about what's wrong in an artwork (or, more accurately, what isn't reaching them), but, unless they are your mentor, people rarely have useful things to say about how to fix it. That's because fixing it is not their job! Your artwork exudes from you, and that's where your real answers will come from.
I thought my painting, "Pretending to Listen" (34"Hx48"W), in its earlier form was beautiful. But someone I respect said it lacked depth, and when I picked it up from a show I saw what he meant. So I let it hang around for a few months until I got my fill of it where it was at.
Then, reaching behind his words, I brought in an oil layer and lots more darks to deepen the composition. And I got very clear on its needing a green line. I sat like a cat in the bushes watching patiently and still for my prey to make the right move. And then my moment came - I knew exactly what to do. Approaching your painting by seeing what you can make right instead of what is wrong, is a small but huge shift. The shift is from fear to love. Today's question for the guides delves into this topic, which is one of the main lessons we come to earth to learn: "Love vs. Fear."
What bit of fear might be affecting your life today, that you could consciously and purposefully replace with love - changing forever the landscape for all souls?
