For artists who love to explore Spirit, and spiritual people who love to explore art

Dear %$firstname$%,

I've decided to mix things up again. More on that in a minute.

Well, my quest to solve last week's painting led me to look at some of my old landscape work. Nothing is more instructive to an abstract painter whose colors have gone awry than to study the coherence and rich nuances of nature's palette.

This painting, from several years ago, is called "Beargrass" (30"Hx32"W). In contemplating the painting, I picked up a beautiful insight. But not on the subject of color.

I've always loved this painting, and when it sold I was grateful for the money, but knew I had not charged what it was worth - probably half. The venue was a local arts council event and I didn't want to alienate small town locals with my big city prices.

As it happened, the purchaser was the owner of a number of buildings downtown and not exactly a charity case. In fact, this person was the landlord of a business space I co-rented.

I wondered if something good would complete the energetic exchange of the painting. Then I gave the matter no more thought but to invite the patron to shows.

Yet lately I have become increasingly aware that the outflow I give from the heart in one department of my life often shows up as riches in another part of my life.

As I contemplated on the painting this morning, it finally came to me that the painting had indeed been paid for in full - a long time ago. When my partner and I moved out of that building, we owed some rent. After a few payments, the balance was waived: just about the same amount as the painting was underpriced. I never associated the two events, nor probably did the landlord. But Spirit gave me this insight softly and unbidden now that I had the eyes to see it.

Okay, here is the change I'm thinking of making to this newsletter:

For some reason it feels better to lighten this up. Instead of including the whole I Listen to Spirit Blog, I'll just give you the question, and you can click to the blog for the answer.

Today's question for the guides is a fascinating one for those of us family members whose loved ones do not seem to share our concern about their own lives! Oh my goodness.

"Wanting Something for a Loved One."

Dear Guides,

I feel the urgency to have a grandchild, yet my son and his wife are waiting for the right circumstances. Spiritually, is it okay for me to visualize, pray or want something for a loved one that they don't necessarily see for themselves?
