Dear %$firstname$%,

Control. We all struggle with this one. We want things a certain way and others won't cooperate. heh heh.
Today's I Listen to Spirit Blog is called, "Wanting to Control."

Dear Guides,
How can our tendency to want to make the world better for ourselves by controlling our environment be used in a way that doesn't infringe on our fellow man?

Here is an additional, beautiful image and message from the longer "Dear Guides" Journal version of the I Listen to Spirit blog, channeled by Minda Bernstein.

"The strong setting of intentions, and then the letting go of results is what can allow you to relax in the face of adversity and facing others' wills. It will allow you to leave the space for others to do their own work and continue on their own path of self-development, even when it seems to cross yours.

"If you can imagine that you create an elaborate string design, the kind which is wound around nail heads and forms a picture by going and coming from point to point, and that another person is simultaneously creating his own similar string design painting but on just a slightly different level or plane, you can see how there are in fact spaces between the two worlds and creations. This is a secret principle - that while it may feel like you are crossing strings and paths in your Earthly life, there is really a huge amount of wiggle room between the two, spaces to slip through where yours does not intersect the others' unless you choose to believe it does."

I have discovered that "wiggle room" myself, and it has freed me up immensely!

Minda and I are always fascinated how my blog paintings relate to her channeling, since we do them simultaneously. In this case, the succession of intricate, woven, concentric circles in my blog painting seems to illustrate the layers of string design in the quote above.

This week's studio painting is called "Athena." (25"x25") Yes, Bruce, this is her!

I had experimented with a realistic/surrealistic version of Athena on this very canvas for Bruce Mitchell's album cover for New Earth Goddess, but alas it wouldn't work. Bruce (begged me?) (bugged me?) prodded me to finish her anyway, and lo and behold, here she has come back transformed!

    With love,
    Julie
