There are good reasons to meditate, pray or contemplate. And quite a few lame reasons not to, which EFT can tackle. Let's explore both.
On a recent talk show, three scientists were each reporting on their studies of the brain using advanced scanning technologies. All three reported stable brainwave patterns in people who meditate, and all three believed that these stable patterns are so significant to your health that the single most important thing you can do for your health is to meditate.
Rhonda Byrne, author of The Secret, states that, to the person, everyone she interviewed in her book
and movie meditates daily. Law of Attraction guru Mike Dooley tells us that a day's worth of negative thoughts
can be negated with 10 minutes of meditation. Christine Comaford-Lynch, multimillionaire entrepreneur, says in her
book, Rules for Renegades, "The vast majority of my business and technological innovations, company ideas,
marketing plans, and life insights come from the clarity I get when I stop my barrage of thoughts [in meditation]."
Of course, the primary reason most people meditate is to become more connected with being - or a
greater being, such as their Higher Self, the Universe, or God.
Many of us know that we should meditate. It may have been one of our New Year's resolutions. But life just
seems to get in the way. When we do make the time, squeezing it in before work or after dropping the kids at
soccer practice, it's easier to become distracted with thoughts about what we have to do, what the boss said at
the meeting last week, and what we saw in the media than to stay connected with the Universe.
EFT, Emotional Freedom Techniques, can be a big help in clearing the distractions that keep you from
meditating. This article will assume that you have a rudimentary understanding of EFT and its use. To learn the
basics of EFT for free, download my 16-page eBook, The EFT Quick-Start Method.
First, EFT can be used to help find the time to meditate, and to break down the barriers to forming a
meditation habit. For instance, you could tap on:
Even though I never seem to have time to meditate...
Even though something always comes up when I want to meditate...
Even though the kids (dog, phone) won't leave me alone when I start to meditate...
Even though I only think of meditating when I can't do it...
Whatever barrier you set up for yourself can be tapped on. For example, physical discomfort may be a big one.
Even though my legs get restless when I try to meditate...
Even though my back never quite gets comfortable...
even though as soon as I sit down my stomach starts to growl...
We can use EFT to settle the mind when we first start.
Even though I can't stop thinking about work...
Even though I keep getting distracted by noises in the other room...
Even though I fall asleep...
Even though I think about all the things I have to do...
Most importantly, we can use EFT to help us get over some of the emotional barriers to meditation success.
Even though I am afraid when it feels like I'm dying...
Even though I feel like I'm not worthy to ___________...
Even though I get angry when I lose the feeling of ________...
Even though I get frustrated when I can't achieve _________...
Tapping on these issues can be done during your meditation exercise or anytime after or before.
There are many ways to meditate, pray or contemplate, even for any given individual. Discovering them may take some time, experimentation and practice.* EFT can help along the way by taking the emotional barriers down so that you can achieve success more easily.
